PITTSBURGH The manager of defunct Holy Redeemer Parish FCU was indicted on charges of stealing more than $100,000 from the tiny church credit union that never reached $1 million in assets.
In the latest of single-employee credit union embezzlements, Victoria Rozanski, 59, allegedly stole the funds between January 2003 and May 2009.
The credit union, which is located in Ellwood City, about 35 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, had just 234 members and $630,000 in assets when it was absorbed last year by much larger Freedom United FCU.
The parish credit union was chartered in 1935 and was limited to parish members or their family members. The credit union was so small it did not have a teller window and operated out of a 10-by-10-foot room that was open only three hours a week. It remains open as a branch of the larger credit union.
