SEDALIA, Mo. – The former manager of Pittsburgh Corning Glassworkers CU pleaded guilty Tuesday to stealing $35,000 from members’ accounts at the tiny credit union.

Sandra Jeffers, 49, admitted that she had cut checks from various members’ accounts. Jeffers used credit union checks made out to herself, then endorsed and deposited or cashed the fraudulent checks on her account at another credit union.
Jeffers admitted that between February 2008 and March 2009 she transferred money from the accounts of four members on 23 separate occasions. The amounts ranged from $35 to $5,000 for a loss of approximately $35,000. The loss was reimbursed to the four members’ accounts by NCUA.
The credit union has less than $1 million in assets.
