NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Langley FCU announced this morning it hired Thomas Ryan, chief operating officer at Digital Employees FCU, New England’s largest credit union, as CEO of the $1.7 billion credit union.

Ryan will succeed Jean Yokum, who is retiring after a teller-to-corner office career that included 55 years at Langley, the last 32 as CEO.
Ryan worked at DCU for 26 years, the past 17 in executive positions, helping build it to $4.4 billion in assets.
Yokum began work at the credit union—then known as Langley Memorial Aeronautical Laboratory FCU-- in 1953 as a teller, then was promoted to accounting and then to assistant manager before taking over as CEO in 1979.
