MC Federal Credit Union in Pennsylvania names new president

MC Federal Credit Union in Danville, Pennsylvania, has selected Elba Arenas as its president.

Arenas, who joined the $223-million asset credit union  in 2016 as the manager for its western region, is presently chief member experience officer and added the role of president effective July 29. Jim Barbarich, who according to his LinkedIn profile has led the credit union as its president and chief executive since August 2007, announced his plans to retire at the end of next year.

"Throughout her career, she has demonstrated the unique ability to foster constructive dialogue between colleagues and business partners to improve performance, build trust and harness the talents of different individuals to drive success … Elba's passion for our credit union is truly contagious, and we look forward to significant future MC Federal successes under her energetic leadership," Douglas W. Bastian, chairperson for the credit union, said in a press release.

Barbarich will remain with the credit union as CEO until his official retirement on Dec. 23, 2023, and will assist Elba in an advisory role.

"I am honored and excited to lead our credit union as we continue to make a difference in the lives of our members and in the communities we serve," Elba said in the release.
