Two NBA basketball players helped present Eastern Corporate FCU President Jane Melchionda with a 2005 "Heroes Among Us." The award from the Celtics honors individuals who have made an "overwhelming impact on the lives of others," and was presented by Celtics captain Paul Pierce, along with Chicago Bulls forward Antonio Davis, before a Celtics game against the Bulls. Melchionda was recognized for her work in launching the Credit Unions of Massachusetts Kids at Heart program with EasCorp and a handful of credit union sponsors. Today, 55 credit unions participate and the group has raised more than $1.6 million for Children's Hospital, Boston.
