SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A local man on Tuesday pleaded guilty to a check fraud that victimized at least three local credit unions.
Christopher Vanetten, 37, was charged with stealing more than $3,000 from Syracuse Postal FCU, then issuing eight checks that were refused by USAA Federal Savings Bank in Clay last June and July.
Vanetten also is accused of writing at least a dozen checks that were refused by Compass CU, including a $1,000 check to BJ’s Wholesale Club. Additionally, he was accused of issuing a bad check that was refused by ACCESS FCU.
