WASHINGTON – A member of Government Printing Office FCU was sentenced to 21 months in prison Tuesday for a credit card scheme in which she was able to make more than $280,000 in electronic payments on her GPO card via the credit union’s website, using false payee account information.
LaTrease Glover, 38, also faces five years of supervised release after serving her sentence.
In order to make a card payment on the credit union’s website, Glover had to input a dedicated login name and password, and she did so every time she made a “payment.” But the account numbers Glover used to make the payments were either non-existent account numbers or account numbers of third parties who had no knowledge of the transactions.
Video surveillance footage showed Glover was the person making cash advances and incurring purchases on the card.
The loss attributable to Glover as a result of the scheme is $70,911 and she was ordered to pay that amount in restitution.
