Members Protest Elimination of CU Death Benefit

MONTPELIER, Vt. – Members of Vermont State Employees CU picketed the credit union’s headquarters this week in opposition to the board’s decision to terminate life insurance polices. The unique program provides matching life insurance coverage up to $5,000 for members who keep a savings account at the credit union. The Board voted to end the coverage as of Oct. 1. The members group is asking the Board to rescind its decision. Credit union officials were not available to comment yesterday.
