WICHITA, Kan. – Three illegal immigrants convicted of an eight-state check-forging spree will be deported to their native Mexico after serving prison terms ranging from 30 months to 40 months.

The U.S. Secret Service had tracked fake payroll checks through at least eight states, including California, New Mexico, Idaho, Texas and finally Kansas.
The scheme was uncovered last December after the men tried to cash checks at Hutchinson CU. When a teller questioned the authenticity of the checks, the men fled, leaving behind the checks and fake identification cards containing their photos.
After prison and deportation, all three will be banned for life from legally returning to the U.S.
