Michigan credit union expands its field of membership

Cornerstone Community Financial Credit Union is expanding its fields of membership to serve members across Michigan and parts of Ohio.

The $365 million-asset credit union in Auburn Hills, Michigan, announced Thursday that regulators from the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services approved CCF’s request to update its coverage area to now include the entirety of its home state, as well as the counties of Fulton, Henry, Ottawa and Sandusky in Ohio.

“This expansion of our field-of-membership is an important and exciting step in CCF’s efforts to bring the convenience, commitment and care of a community-minded credit union to as many consumers as possible,” Heidi Kassab, CCF's president and chief executive, said in a press release.

Founded in 1951 by employees of Chrysler Corporation's parts division, CCF has grown to serve more than 25,000 members across its six branches. The credit union is planning to add a location in Toledo sometime next year.

“Expanding our charter allows us to serve more members, including those coming to us for online service,” Kassab said. “It means we can reach more individuals and serve as a valuable community resource, no matter where they live.”
