URBANDALE, Iowa – Urbandale CU has rolled out online, mobile, social and location-based payments solution Dwolla.
The rollout follows Midland CU’s decision to sign on for Dwolla’s financial institution integration product, FiSync. Midland CU’s members will be able to access Dwolla through the Midland website at MidlandCU.org. After signing up for a Dwolla account – a process estimated to take less than a minute – members will be able to make payments to anyone with an e-mail address, as well as their Facebook and Twitter friends. Members will be able to download the Dwolla mobile application, which allows users to make payments via their smart phone. The app also allows a user to access Dwolla Spots, a feature that displays a map of Dwolla-accepting merchants based on their smart phone’s current location.
Dwolla’s FiSync allows a credit union or community bank to connect the payment platform directly to the credit union’s existing systems. The advantage for the credit union’s members is an expedited Dwolla sign-up process.
Midland CU was introduced to the Dwolla platform by its card processing partner The Members Group, which is an investor in Dwolla and is currently distributing the product across the country.
