Martin said he plans to spend more time volunteering in community service and with his family, which includes five grandchildren.

Martin has a long history of community involvement, including: as chairman of the Joe Rindone Regional Technology Center Classroom of the Future Foundation; as chairman of the executive committee for the University of San Diego BusinessLink; a director for the San Diego State University College of Business Administration; and an executive committee member of Palomar College President’s Associates.

He also was one of the organizers of CO-OP Financial Services and served as president of Technology FCU.

Mission Fed, which lost $6.6 million in 2006 due to its exposure to Centrix Financial’s subprime auto loan program, was able to buck the trend in Southern California where many credit unions are reporting large losses for 2007, with net income of $3.8 million for the year.
