WASHINGTON Home mortgage rates fell back again toward record lows this week, after rising the past few weeks, according to Freddie Mac.
The average for the 30-year, fixed-rate loan slipped to 3.38%, from 3.40% last week; while the average for the 15-year mortgage held steady at 2.66%.
ARM rates also held steady, with the average for the five-year ARM remaining unchanged at 2.66%; and the average for the one-year ARM dipping to 2.57%, from 2.60%.
“Mortgage rates were flat to down a little this week amid reports that inflation remains contained,” said Frank Nothaft, chief economist for Freddie Mac.
