Multi Media FCU Changes Name To Darden Employees FCU To Reflect New SEG

ORLANDO, Fla. – Multi Media FCU, which has had the Orlando Sentinel as its primary sponsor, is changing its name to reflect an expansion that includes employees of Darden Restaurants and their families – it is now known as Darden Employees FCU.

Darden is one of the world’s biggest restaurant companies. It owns the Olive Garden, Capital Grille, Longhorn Steakhouse and Red Lobster chains, among others.

The $11 million credit union was chartered in 1968 to serve employees and retirees of the Orlando Sentinel newspaper and serves several smaller select groups. It lost $42,000 in 2008 and lost $90,000 for the first three quarters of 2009.

The credit union's operational headquarters will remain at the same location, but a branch will be opened in Darden's new corporate headquarters in south Orlando. The board of directors is being expanded from nine to 15 members, with nine of the directors to be Darden employees.
