NCUA Approves Community Charter Conversions

- ALEXANDRIA, Va. (03/24/00) - NCUA said it approvedanother four conversions to community charter last month and onethree community charter expansion. Conversions approved last month:KV FCU, Augusta, Me., to encompass 115,000 residents of KennebecCounty, Me.; Ameri-Can FCU, Chambersburg, Pa., to include 128,000residents of Franklin County, Pa.; Southern Oklahoma FCU, Ardmore,Okla., to encompass 30,000 residents of Armore, Okla. The agencyalso approved the conversion of Lormet Community CU, Lorain, Ohio,to a federal charter encompassing 282,000 employees of variousemployee groups in Lorain County, Ohio. NCUA also approvedapplications for: Seaford FCU, Seaford, Del., to add 139,000residents of Sussex County, Del.; and for Quitman County FCU,Marks, Miss., to add 48,000 residents in the low income communitiesof Tallahatchie and Panola counties.
