NCUA said representatives from the Internal Revenue Service will participate in the agency's Access Across America workshop Sept. 30 at the IRS office in San Jose, Calif., to teach credit unions about the availability of IRS programs. A partnership between the two agencies was formed to teach credit unions about the VITA Program, offering free tax preparation for low-income people; the Earned Income Tax Credit, and how to become an Electronic Return Originator, providing electronic tax filing services. During the workshop, applications will be processed on-site for participation in the IRS' Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers Acceptance Agent program or to be an e-file provider. A second IRS-NCUA workshop is planned for November.
