ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Credit Union Administration announced Friday the appointment of Board Member J. Mark McWatters as liaison to the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC).
McWatters takes over as liaison at the request of NCUA Chairman Rick Metsger.
"I appreciate Board Member McWatters' accepting this position," Metsger said in a statement. "I know it will help us maintain a productive working relationship between NCUA and the Council."
McWatters said he appreciates hearing more from CUs trying to meet the financial needs of their members. "Since joining the NCUA's Board, I have advocated that we best service the variety of interests in the credit union community by working with and listening to them directly," he added.
The DCUC, which was organized in 1963, "represents the interests of credit unions operating on military installations world-wide," the NCUA said in a statement. The Council consists of more than 200 CUs that serve more than 18 million members.
