ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Coming soon to a computer or tablet near you: open meetings of the NCUA board will be streamed live online, the regulator announced Wednesday.

After registration, NCUA will send a confirmation e-mail containing a link to the live stream. Participants are encouraged to test the link prior to the meeting to confirm ability of the device they are using to stream the event.

Live captioning will be provided during each meeting for the hearing-impaired.
"This is a significant step forward in terms of agency transparency, and I want to thank Vice Chairman [Rick] Metsger for initiating this idea," NCUA Board Chairman Debbie Matz said in a statement. "Anyone interested in seeing and hearing NCUA board meetings live will now be able to log in, follow the open board discussions and get an immediate sense of how regulations and other policy decisions are made."
NCUA said it will provide a new registration link for each subsequent board meeting.
The agency will continue to post video archives of open board meetings on its website.
