NCUA to Host CDFI Certification Webinar

The National Credit Union Administration will host a webinar on how to become a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).

Titled "CDFI Certification: Special Credit Union Version," the free 90-minute webinar is scheduled for 2 p.m. Eastern June 23.

NCUA and the CDFI Fund are working together to double the number of certified credit unions by the end of 2016. The webinar will highlight the automation of existing data sources to streamline the application process.

Webinar participants will hear from Vanessa Lowe, economic development specialist at NCUA's Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives, three of the office's staff members—Pamela Williams, partnership and outreach analyst; Diane Rector, economic development specialist supervisor and training manager; Malia Peel, economic development specialist supervisor and project manager—and Michelle Dickens, senior program analyst with the CDFI Fund. Moreover, representatives from two credit unions will talk about their experiences with the certification process.
