METHUEN, Mass. – An ATM at NESC FCU was stolen here Sunday night when thieves turned two security cameras toward the ceiling and tore the machine from the wall.

The ATM contained less than $10,000.
It was the second ATM theft in two days and is believed to be connected to a string of ATM smash-and-grab thefts across New England over the past two years. Friday night, thieves attempted to steal an ATM from the district court. When they couldn’t get it out of the wall, they broke it open and stole the cash.
