Credit unions in Nevada are partnering with electrical co-ops to host three "campaign academies" for people considering a run for public office. The Nevada Credit Union League, the Nevada Rural Electric Association, the Credit Union National Association and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association are all involved in the day-long candidate training schools, which are also open to the public.
The candidate training schools were created to help individuals seeking public office to sharpen their political skills and prepare for the rigors of the campaign trail, whether it be school board, town or county council, or state or federal office. The training will benefit candidates, campaign managers, fund raisers and volunteers, its sponsors said.
