Nevis to Retire as Chief Executive of Fitzsimons Credit Union

AUORA, Colo. -- Fitzsimons Credit Union announced Monday that long-time chief executive Sandy Neves will retire at the end of June.

Neves will be succeeded by current president Robert "Bob" Fryberger Jr, who has been with the credit union since 1989.

Neves joined the 18,000-member credit union in 1981 as a teller, and quickly rose through the organization's ranks. She was named CEO of the now $175 million-asset institution in 1990 when the CU had roughly $50 in assets.

She lauded Fryberger's commitment to the credit union in a statement.

"Bob has been an integral part of our success at Fitzsimons," said Neves. "We have worked closely for many years and I am proud and confident that in this role he will carry forward the Fitzsimons vision."

Neves' retirement will not be official until one year from now, though Fryberger will officially take over the helm on July 1. Neves will serve in an emeritus capacity for the year, working in tandem with her successor to ensure a seamless transition, a company spokesperson said.

"The board and I are honored to have had the opportunity to work with Sandy over the years," said Board Chairman Lyle Artz in a press release. "She has had a remarkable career and distinguished tenure, and her contributions to Fitzsimons Credit Union and the Credit Union System are immense and pave the way for us to continue to build for the future."
