TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Credit unions and banks are being alerted to a new breach of credit card data that may have originated in an unnamed national restaurant chain.
Envision CU has notified more than 600 of its members of the possible breach and that their cards are being reissued. Credit union officials said two fraudulent attempts to use card information have been flagged, including one involving the account of Ray Cromer, Envision's president.
In Cromer's case, his home was called when someone attempted to make a $4,000 purchase in Oklahoma using his account information. The other known attempt also involved an employee's card information.
The U.S. Secret Service has arrested suspects in Miami and overseas but few details were being disclosed last week.
