New Internet Bank Gets Thrift Charter

- WASHINGTON (05/01/00) - The Office of ThriftSupervision last week granted a federal thrift charter to Bank ofInternet USA, which will operate as both a traditional savings andloan and a full-service Internet bank. The Internet bank will bebased in San Diego and will offer services at both a physicalbranch and over the world wide web, differing from other Internetbanks that focus on one of the other delivery channel. The companyplans to introduce customers to Internet banking at the branch andhelp them become comfortable with online banking.
