New Michigan credit union regulator takes over

Michigan has welcomed a new state credit union regulator.

Denice Schultheiss has taken over as director of the Office of Credit Unions for the Department of Insurance and Financial Services. Her appointment became effective on Monday.

“Denice’s background and experience will be a tremendous asset to our department and the Office of Credit Unions,” Patrick McPharlin, director of DIFS, said in a press release. “She has a wealth of experience including involvement in several working groups, task forces and special projects.”

Schultheiss succeeds John Kolhoff, who left DIFS after 24 years to head the Texas Credit Union Commission. She started at the DIFS Office of Credit Unions in 1996, becoming a regional supervisor in 2004.
