New Mobile Wallet Lets Members Withdraw Cash via Smartphone

San Diego County Credit Union has launched its own mobile wallet, known as SDCCU Wallet.

Members of the $7.7 billion credit union can download the SDCCU Wallet app and then engage in secure banking transactions using their smartphone, including mobile cash access at SDCCU-branded ATMs.

The mobile cash access feature allows users to save time at any SDCCU ATM by setting up their withdrawal on their mobile device. After opening the app, users select how much they want to withdraw and from which account, then tap the button on the ATM screen and scan the QR code with the app. The SDCCU Wallet app also gives members access to special deals and coupons to save on everyday purchases. More details on the app's functionality are available at sdccu.com/mobilewallet.

"At SDCCU, we consistently look for ways to leverage new technologies to help make our members' busy lives easier," Teresa Halleck, SDCCU's president and CEO, said in a statement. "SDCCU Wallet does just that. Our members are now able to spend less time at the ATM and more time on other important aspects of their lives."

SDCCU Wallet is one of several new technology initiatives the credit union has launched in recent years, such as its SDCCU Mobile Deposit. The credit union also said it was first to market with the SDCCU Easy Balance Transfer app, allowing the transfer of high-rate credit card balances to SDCCU with a smartphone.

SDCCU launched the service through a partnership with CU Wallet, a Los Angeles-based provider of mobile wallet solutions that works with more than 100 FIs on mobile wallet technology.

The credit union also created a video to help introduce the wallet, which can be seen below.
