ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - The New Jersey CU League's 72nd Annual Meeting and Convention drew nearly 1,000 people this year, where such luminaries the captain of the 1980 Olympic Gold Medal-winning U.S. Ice Hockey Team to "Bob, The Credit Union Guy" made appearances.
The "Miracle On Ice" Hockey Team Captain Mike Eruzione kicked off the convention, telling attendees, "No one thought we could win...not even us. But that all changed when we started skating like a team, not a bunch of individuals."
Eruzione's keynote session tied in with the event's theme: "New Jersey's Credit Unions: The Difference YOU!", which was borrowed from the Utah League of CUs. The Utah league has allowed NJCUL to use the "YOU Campaign," featuring "Bob, The Credit Union Guy."
Next year, for the 73rd Annual Meeting & Convention, NJCUL will move to September and a new venue at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino, also in Atlantic City.
