WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Three area credit unions last week signed a marketing and information-sharing deal with officials from Mexico’s third-largest credit union, Caja Morelia, during a visit here.
The U.S. credit unions–Truliant FCU, Allegacy FCU and Premier FCU–agreed to exchange information on accounting and information-technology systems, branches, and service, while the Mexican credit union will help market the U.S. credit unions to families of the growing population of Mexicans working in North Carolina.
Caja Morelia is based in the central Mexican state of Michoacán. It has 67 branches, 200,000 members and assets of $200 million. Despite its size, the credit union still is awaiting regulatory approval to be able to offer ATMs to its members.
