RALEIGH, N.C. – State Employees CU and Visa Inc. have donated 54 laptop computers to the North Carolina Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy, a quasi-military program for at-risk youth in Salemburg, N.C.
The Academy’s program concentrates on providing these young adults with the discipline and life skills necessary to be productive members of society. The North Carolina National Guard sponsors this voluntary program, which has seen more than 2,700 graduates since its inception in 1994.
The laptops which will be used to enhance instruction at the institution, feature links to financial literacy programs, including SECU’s teen website and the National Endowment for Financial Education’s NEFE website, as well as Visa’s program, Practical Money Skills for Life.
