Northwest Community CU Builds Branch In Restaurant It Once Financed

EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest Community CU said it plans to renovate the former Sapphires Mongolian Grill alongside U.S. Highway 101 as a new branch.

The credit union helped finance construction of the Asian restaurant, but it foreclosed on the property after the business folded in 2008. The property has sat vacant since then, and the credit union never put it on the market.

Northwest donated all of the restaurant's commercial kitchen equipment to Oregon Coast Culinary Institute.

The credit union's State Street building will be placed on the market once it is vacated.
