Nusenda appoints interim chief after CEO's sudden resignation

The board at Nusenda Credit Union announced Monday that Joe Christian, executive vice president of operations, has taken over immediately as interim CEO following the resignation of CEO Terry Laudick.

“After nearly 26 years, I look forward to relaxing, catching my breath and being a grandfather. Thanks to a great team we impacted many lives ‘doing well to do good,’” Laudick said in a statement.

No further reason for his departure was given.

Christian comes to the corner office after spending more than 30 years at the Albuquerque-based institution. He has served as vice president of operations, chief operations officer, chief administrative officer and more. A statement from the $2.2 billion-asset Nusenda said Christian and the senior leadership team have “the full confidence of the board of directors to continue to execute on the credit union’s strategic vision.”

A permanent CEO is expected to be announced sometime in the future.

Nusenda earned $27.4 million in net income last year, up about 30 percent from 2017.
