Oberbauer Steps Down As CEO Due To Health Issues

SAN DIEGO-San Diego County CU, one of the few healthy large credit unions in Southern California, said its long-time president, Irene Oberbauer, will retire for health reasons. Oberbauer told her staff that she is being treated for breast cancer and the prognosis is strong.

The board of the $4.9-billion credit union named COO Tum Vongsawad as interim president and CEO.

The area's biggest credit union reported $68.6 million in net income for 2009, after a $14.1 million loss for 2008. The credit union said it will undertake a national search to find a new president and CEO.
