PORTLAND, Ore. Oregonians CU said Friday it will close its branch in Eugene on March 1.
The growing use of online services has contributed to the decreasing usage of the branch, the credit union said. There are 1,400 members assigned to that branch and only about 20% of those members conduct transactions there consistently.
“The decision to close the branch was not taken lightly,” the credit union said in a written statement. “Transaction volume, loan demand and new business have continued to decline and are the lowest in the branch network. The Eugene location is no longer able to support the operating costs that go along with running a branch.”
Oregonians CU has six branches in the Portland area and a branch in Prineville. It has $300 million in assets.
