Original Member Of 56-Year-Old Pennsylvania CU Passes

SIDMAN, Penn. – CBA Schools FCU said Frank Alcamo, who helped charter the $108-million credit union in 1956, died July 14 at 92.

Alcamo was one of the original seven members who each purchased a $5 share to pay the $35 fee necessary to apply for a charter. The certificate of organization was issued in November, 1956, and Alcamo was named the first president of the credit union.

While working to get the credit union solvent, Frank taught in Wilmore, Beaverdale, South Fork and Triangle area high schools. He retired as principal of Windber Area High School and served on the credit union board for 56 years.
