Pacific Marine CU HQ Moves Off Base

OCEANSIDE, Calif. – Pacific Marine CU, chartered to serve employees at the Marine Corp.’s Camp Pendleton, has moved off base as it plans to expand its field of membership.

Credit union officials emphasized that while their headquarters is now off-base, they will continue to operate their on-base branch and are planning to open two more branches at Camp Pendleton.

The $590 million credit union paid $20 million for land and construction of a building in Oceanside’s Pacific Coast Business Park as part of its strategy to recruit more civilian members while maintaining its core base of military, prompting a change in its slogan from “You can join” to “Open to everyone.”

The credit union, 16% of whose 75,000 members are civilians, has an open membership charter for anyone who lives in San Diego, Riverside or San Bernardino counties.

The new headquarters provides 57,000 square feet, almost triple the size of the old one, allowing the credit union to consolidate lending, marketing, human resources, call center, and other functions into a single facility.
