GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Montana Supreme Court on Wednesday denied the appeal of a woman who robbed Community FCU while wearing a wig and a fake goatee, turning aside her defense that she should have been sentenced to the Department of Public Health and Human Services because she suffered from paranoid schizophrenia.
Felicia Gallmeier pled guilty and was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the April 2006 robbery, in which she took $8,325. She was arrested a week later after people told police that she had bragged about the robbery.
Psychologists found that Gallmeier has paranoid-type schizophrenia. She spent six months at Montana State Hospital before doctors decided she was fit to continue with court proceedings.
Gallmeier, now 22, argued that the robbery was driven by mental illness and that she should have been sentenced to the Department of Public Health and Human Services.
