HARRISBURG, Penn. – The Pennsylvania and New York CU leagues said in recognition of the growing importance of director education, they are collaborating to hold a joint volunteers conference in October.
Diane Powell, director of communications for the Pennsylvania CU Association, told Credit Union Journal the move was made in response to the growing pressure from NCUA on director education and concerns among CU CEOs that directors need improved skills.
“By collaborating as leagues we can pool our resources and offer a stronger program,” said Powell. “The Credit Union Association of New York has had a great deal of success with its own volunteer conference and we needed to bring ours back. It was a natural fit.”
The meeting will be held Oct. 19-20 at the Skytop Lodge in Skytop, Penn. A similar joint conference will be held next year in New York.
