HARRISBURG, Pa. - (08/17/05) The state Department of Bankingsaid this week it has approved two applications for so-called TIP(trade, industry or profession-wide) charters, the first TIPsgranted state chartered credit unions in Pennsylvania. The new TIPswill allow Lee Hospital CU, in Johnstown, to serve all health careworkers in Blair, Cambria and Somerset counties; and HVHS CU, inSewickley, to health care workers in the Pittsburgh metropolitanarea. At least three other states, Connecticut, Minnesota andMassachusetts have also begun offering TIPs, which were created byNCUA for federal charters two years ago.
