HOUSTON – People’s Trust FCU and its People’s Trust Foundation held its fourth annual Teen Financial Camp, which was attended by nearly 40 Houston area high school-aged children of People’s Trust members.
The camp covered the seven unit curriculum of the National Endowment for Financial Education High School Financial Planning Program which included: Setting Financial Goals, Budgeting your Money, Savings and Investing, Using Credit Wisely, Keeping your Money and Identity Safe, Insurance, and Finances and Your Career.
The students also learned invaluable information from guest speakers. A panel of local professionals spoke about the importance of career choice as it reflects earning potential, how training and education can affect a student’s earning potential, and an examination of the cost of higher education and the alternatives available. Students also learned about the benefits of internships, volunteer work and participation in community events.
