HOUSTON – People’s Trust FCU is eliminating the spare change – by depositing directly into an account or donating it to its charitable foundation – instead of handing it out to members.

In a new wrinkle on the cashless branch, the $285 million credit union’s new branch at the Shops at Houston Center no longer will handle coins. Instead of receiving the odd amount back for checks, members will be allowed to chose whether to have it added to their accounts or donated to the credit union’s charity. This will serve as an added savings incentive, the credit union said.
