Dozens of wounded soldiers recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center will be able to communicate with ease over the Internet with their units in Iraq and family members, thanks to the Pentagon FCU Foundation. PFCU's charitable arm raised $86,000 from corporate donors to finance installation of 27 wireless computers at the Fisher Houses recuperation center at Walter Reed for homecoming soldiers. The project, which may serve as a pilot for the other 33 Fisher House around the world, was unveiled during a ceremony here. The laptop computers will be loaned to recovering soldiers when they first enter the three Fisher Houses at Walter Reed Hospital and the troops will be able to use them during their recuperation on-site. The foundation also helped finance furnishings at the recovery facility earlier this year.
