DANVILLE, Va. – Piedmont CU announced yesterday it has contracted with IDTELi to provide it with the company’s GUARDEDID keylogging protection for the credit union’s internal computers.
In addition, Piedmont has agreed to provide the keylogging protection service to its members.
GUARDED ID is patent pending next generation "keystroke encryption" software. It prevents known and undetectable keyloggers from capturing all keystrokes and sending them to thieves via the Internet.
Piedmont Credit Union is one of the first credit unions in the nation to offer Members the same keyboard security being used internally to prevent keylogging. Some of the members of Piedmont Credit Union were affected by the Heartland Payment Systems data breach that was initiated by keylogging malware and while Piedmont’s management has since determined that the Heartland data breach was not related to any of Piedmont’s internal systems, proactive steps have been taken to prevent a similar event from occurring at its credit union.
