BOSTON – A man who robbed a Workers CU branch in Gardner last week is believed to be the same bandit who hit as many as 15 Bay State credit unions and banks since October.

The robber, who showed a gun in at least one of the holdups, typically wears a puff jacket for winter, earning him the nickname the "PJ Bandit" from police.
The thief also is believed responsible for holdups at Randolph FCU, First Trade CU, Bridgewater CU, Boston CU and University CU, among other institutions.
