The $740-million CU kicked things off in June with a Baltimore Orioles ticket drawing that doubled its fan base on Facebook. The credit union gave away four club-level tickets and parking.

Knowing members need relief from more than the heat, Point Breeze has also launched its "Take The Summer Off" skip-a-payment program that encourages members to "enjoy their summer plans by skipping either their June or July vehicle loan payment."

"Early returns show a 5% response rate and we are targeting 8%," said CEO Bernie McLaughin.

Meanwhile, to increase involvement in the community and to fight cancer, Point Breeze has a team ready for the Relay for Life walk to support the American Cancer Society.

For July 5, Point Breeze closes out summer promos with its Beat the Heat ice cream social. "It's to show member appreciation and we'll hold it at all of our branch locations," said McLaughlin. "An ice cream truck will show up in all of our parking lots to give away free ice cream and snow cones to members. I'll drive to each location to help serve."
