GERMANTOWN, Md. – Police are searching for a well-mannered man who has robbed four branches of Navy FCU over the past five months–twice at the credit union’s branch here in suburban Washington, D.C.
Despite being considered dangerous, the robber is soft-spoken and polite, and can even be seen on surveillance videos holding open the door for members after one of his hold-ups.
The robberies occurred at the Navy FCU branch in Germantown on Sept. 1; in Stafford, Va., on Oct. 1; on Dec. 11 again at the Germantown branch; and on Jan. 11 in Springfield, Va.
Police say the suspect appears to be quite familiar with the Navy FCUs and their procedures. This leads investigators to believe the suspect may be a former credit union employee, military officer, or have some connection to the credit union through relatives or friends.
Investigators say the suspect leaves no fingerprints, never threatens violence and according to witnesses, is polite. The suspect is also pleasant and appears relaxed and friendly as he holds up the credit unions.
