SAN FRANCISCO – Patelco CU unveiled a link Nov. 1 to Price Protectr, an online site that monitors for shoppers when a product they have purchased is reduced in price, enabling them to recapture the difference.
Price Protectr will notify shoppers when the price of a product has been reduced to a pre-targeted level at a specific retailer. The service is particularly aimed at shoppers of electronics and other expensive merchandise.
Price Protectr monitors prices at 165 of the biggest retailers, including Amazon.com. The Apple Store, Best Buy, Staples, Circuit City, Costco, Sears and The Future Store.
Three more credit unions, including First Tech CU, will roll out a Price Protectr link today, as part of a pilot program scheduled to last until next February.
