State Nat'l Cos. Buys Angel & Lee

FORT WORTH, Texas-State National Companies, a provider of collateral protection insurance (CPI), has acquired the book of CPI from Angel & Lee, an Alabama-based insurance provider. Angel & Lee will retain its Birmingham offices, with no changes in staff or how they manage their Alabama and Florida credit union accounts. Angel & Lee previously outsourced its tracking on loan portfolio coverage. State National plans to service existing area clients through the Birmingham office as well as provide continuous CPI service to Angel & Lee customers.

TNB Card Services Buys Two

ST. LOUIS-The $108-million St. Louis Community Credit Union has sold its $7-million card portfolio to TNB Card Services, Dallas. The transaction was brokered with the help of Memphis-based Morgan Keegan & Co. "Following an extensive due diligence period and the realization SLCCU couldn't continue to compete in today's market, TNB was chosen," said Bill Humpfer, SLCCU CEO. "Through this partnership St. Louis Community will be able to expand our card products to current and potential members." TNB Card Services is a division of the credit union-owned Town North Bank. TNB also recently purchased the card portfolio of Spur FCU in El Paso, Texas.

PSCU University Open To All

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.-PSCU Financial Services said its CEO forums and management courses conducted by PSCU University are now open to credit unions across the country. The one-day courses are typically held on the company's Phoenix and St. Petersburg campuses and are led by an industry leader who speaks to credit union senior management about practical topics.

A forum in Phoenix in early June will focus on effective communications skills and techniques and will be led by John Hershey of the National Speakers Association. Other forums will focus on communications, lending and sales strategies. Pricing for the CEO forums is $795 per person and includes three meals and materials. Covey courses are priced at $995 per person and usually include three days of instruction.
