Proponent FCU To Build North Carolina Hub

BURLINGTON, N.C. – Proponent FCU broke ground yesterday on a new 16,000 square-foot project that will serve as a North Carolina hub and a full-time branch for the New Jersey-based credit union.

The $400 million credit union, based in Nutley, N.J., currently operates two Burlington locations. The credit union was chartered in 1971 to serve Roche Pharmaceuticals in the Nutley area, and also serves employees of LabCorp, the city of Burlington, the Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce and more than 20 other North Carolina businesses.

The $4 million building design meets more than half of the standards set forth by the U.S. Green Building Council. The finished building is aiming for a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver certification.
