MINNEAPOLIS – Accounting and consulting firm LarsonAllen said it is expanding its Washington, D.C., presence with the acquisition of Schreiner, Legge & Co., a popular auditor for large credit unions.

LarsonAllen first entered the Washington market two years ago when it acquired Langan Associates, of Shirlington, Va. The addition of Schreiner Legge, based in nearby Alexandria, Va., will give LarsonAllen another 33 employees in the nation's capital for a total of 85, making it about the 20th-largest accounting firm in that region.

Schreiner Legge was founded in 1974 and has strong following among area credit unions, representing 25 of the 50 largest credit unions in D.C. LarsonAllen has a similar specialty; together, they will have the third-largest credit union practice nationwide, said John Langan, principal in charge of the D.C. market.
