DES MOINES, Iowa - Credit unions have begun donating funds to help Iowa’s CUs recover from floods in the state. Iowa Corporate Central Credit Union donated $100,000 to the Iowa Credit Union Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund after issuing a $50,000 matching grant challenge to the credit union community. The Foundation reported that with the donation, it has now received more than $220,000 in contributions to aid credit union members and employees affected by the flooding.
Collins Community Credit Union has designated $50,000 for use by its members affected by the flood.
Meanwhile, during CUNA Mutual’s recent Discovery Conference in Hollywood, Fla., attendees contributed $13,538 to the National Credit Union Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. –CMG Mortgage Insurance Company (CMG MI) said it is offering its insured policyholders in parts of the country struck by flooding the ability to take advantage of payment relief options for their members.
“CMG MI offers credit union mortgage servicers a number of ways to provide relief to members in the declared disaster areas,” Brian Shepherd, SVP-general manager of CMG MI, said.
Members in affected areas may be offered:
* Forbearance on the member’s mortgage payments for up to 12 months.
* No reporting of forbearance or delinquencies caused by the disaster to credit bureaus.
* Suspension of foreclosure and eviction proceedings for up to 12 months.
* Suspension of termination of CMG MI-insured certificates for non-payment of premium by servicers.
